The Product of Words

Exactly 51 years today, (28th August, 1963), a mountain moving speech was given by Martin Luther King Jnr. at the Lincoln Memorial Washington D.C. This speech, which inspired the whole world, is one of the things that made the United States of America what it is today including the declaration of Barack Obama (the first black american president) as the  44th President of the United States of America who is still in office till date. The Product of Words! Same thing happened in South Africa when a man named Nelson Mandela decided to stop the apartheid system in his country by words and action. Today South Africa is the most advanced African Country. The Product of Words!

I can go on and on with the examples of how great men used words to shape their lives and countries but let’s get to the nitty gritty.
From the fruit of his mouth a man’s stomach is filled; with the harvest from his lips he is satisfied.
The tongue has the power of life and death and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:20-21 NIV)
From the above passage we can see that our words are very powerful cos it shapes our lives and destinies. When we say harsh and negative words about ourselves we become the victims of our own words. In the same vein, when we say motivating and positive words to ourselves, we reap from them and are satisfied. In other words, we are the product of our words. We are the recipients of what we say about ourselves whether good or bad.

Words are so powerful that it was used to create the world we live in. The clouds, the stars, the seas, the trees, animals, the sun, moon, you and me were created with words. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God”. (John 1:1NIV)
What does this tell us? Whatever you want to see, Say it!  Allowing others opinion of you drown the opinion you have of yourself is a very dangerous thing. It reduces your self esteem as a person. If Martin Luther King Jnr and other world heroes allowed other people’s opinion of them to rule, there wouldn’t be the results of what we see in their respective countries today. These men gave their lives speaking and acting on what they believed so much in. I was talking to a lady recently, I noticed she never said a word without using the phrase of , “So and so said something about me” . I realised that she didn’t have a good opinion of herself cos she has allowed these negative words into her life. Making her gradually believing such words which now reflects in her life. She is now a product of those words. When people tell you things you are not comfortable with about yourself, resist such words cos you are in charge of your life!

This also applies to parents. We should be very careful with the words we use on our kids. We cannot curse and praise our kids with the same mouth and expect them to become great people. Kids can be naughty a times, it behooves on us to always ask God for Wisdom to handle every issue concerning our kids the right way. You speak what you wanna see in your kids. The way you speak to your kids determines how others will speak to them too. Please let’s be very careful cos our kids are products of our words too. (James 3:10-11).
Now to my beloved country, Nigeria. We all in one way or another have said negative words about this nation. Yes a lot still needs to be done, the first world nations we hear of was ,at a time, like us. They chose to say what they wanted to see in their country and worked hard for it, some giving their lives as a price to be paid. Today, their children are full recipients of the words they spoke years ago.

“…I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character…” (Excerpts from Martin Luther King Jnr’s Speech).
This is so today.

The end of the matter is this , what is your dream? What do you want to see in your life, family, business, career, ministry, country etc? Speak it cos YOU ARE A PRODUCT OF YOUR WORDS!
LIVE AND STAY BEAUTIFUL!
